Back to the Blogosphere

This might be one of the countless blogs that I've started, wrote a few posts and then abandoned. But you gotta start somewhere, right? So I'm returning back to the blogosphere. I wonder since I last posted a blog- what's the reach of blogs in this crazy day and age of media dissemination aka social media? can people even access blogs? all these questions, but to be quite honest I don't really care.  I used to care that people would at least come across my blog, but that's barely going to register in my radar.

Why start a blog in 2021? Well, more personal reasons to restart the habit of just writing. Maybe writing for career purposes because academics are expected to publish or perish.  Call it being busy or simply laziness, but the writing bug has not been there for awhile. I was active for a long stretch between 2016-2019 of being super productive in my writing, but it's been far and few the last 2 years.

The thought of never being able to go back to writing can be quite frightening and often crosses my mind. My bucket list encompasses having wrote my first book and hopefully many more to come. I have a manuscript that's currently sitting that is built from my dissertation and other research articles that I've complied. The manuscript for the book is premised on exploring what K-12 civic education looks like in the private Christian school by focusing on two main goals: providing the conceptual framework of civic education and case studies comparing two private Christian elementary schools (Protestant and Catholic). The first goal, has more or less, been more fleshed out because I've been able to copy and paste bits and pieces of my work into this section. However, the second goal involves data collection and analysis, which has been put on hiatus because of the global pandemic preventing me from actually being able to observe the schools. But that's one excuse because come to think about it - there are ways around it in the sense that I can interview teachers remotely and ask their perspectives.

So many other topics that I can ruminate on, but that's just a current update on what I've been up to.

I don't have clear concrete goals that I want to establish through this blog, but I want to start with an open book and just let ideas grow organically. One thing that will serve as a default is that I'm going to touch on topics related to education, child development, and perhaps the general research field. After all those are topics that will always be in orbit; but I'm going to also invariably add my own personal interests like streaming movies/TV shows, education tech, sports, coffee, podcasts, and so forth. And of course, sharing my Christian faith! So from that perspective, I guess I don't have to worry too much about providing content.

Keep each post short and simple. Easier said than done, but that's how one can be productive in this medium.
